Vanilla Almond Milk Chai Latte

I’m a big fan of chai lattes. But I almost never get them.

Why?

Because I like them with almond milk, and not many places carry that milk variety just yet. But also – I can’t stand all of the syrup! 5 pumps of chai latte syrup does not a happy tummy make! Even one shot is too sweet, and not beneficial for good health in any way.

I finally got wise and learned to make my own mix, and now I’m making them for myself at home! And you can too.

Here is what you will need:

For the Chai Latte mix:

1 tbsp ground cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp ground cloves
3 tbsp vanilla powder

For the rest:

1 chai tea bag
1 1/2 cups boiling water
1 cup almond milk

1. Mix together the spices and vanilla powder. Set aside.

2. Boil your water, and pour it into a tall mug. Steep the chai tea bag in it for as long as you like (about 1-4 minutes, depending on how strong you like it).

3. While the tea steeps, froth your almond milk. If you don’t have a milk frother, just heat up the almond milk in a saucepan until warm.

4. Take the tea bag out of your mug and add 1/2 – 1 tsp of your spice mix and stir until combined. Then add your almond milk. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon, sweeten if you like, and enjoy!

You can store the rest of your mix in an airtight container at room temperature for as long as you like.
