Tis’ the season to eat your face off!
Just kidding.
Actually, no, I’m not kidding. Doesn’t everyone have an image of themselves laying on the couch post Thanksgiving dinner, pants open (if you’re silly enough to wear pants with a fly – amateur), tummy popping out of your waistline, uncomfortable, so full that you’re mad at yourself, and even angrier because you’re actually contemplating having another piece of pumpkin pie (and then you roll yourself off the couch to get one)?
Maybe that’s just me.
Either way, you’re going to be faced with the temptation to eat a heck of a lot of decadent food tomorrow, and most of you will give into it (don’t beat yourself up about it – so will I). And though the stomach ache will subside after a good night’s sleep (or rather, one induced by your food coma), you’ll wake up on Friday and face (and subsequently eat) all the leftovers. As you head into the weekend, you’ll almost certainly have consumed an entire pumpkin pie, half a turkey, a lot of mayonnaise, too many yams, and your year’s worth of marshmallows in the span of four days. And let’s not even talk about those Brussels Sprouts farts you’ve been clearing rooms with (ya, we know it’s you).
So come Monday, I’m thinking your body is going to need a break. A major one. In a big way. Because once Thanksgiving is over, you’ll need to give your digestive system a rest before Christmas and Hanukkah come knocking in a few weeks. Bring on more cookies, decadent eggnog, and oh ya, holiday cheer (though it’s pretty hard to smile when you’re so bloated that you’re worried your pant button might burst in the middle of that holiday party you’re at. Awkward!).
I plan to indulge in the plethora of food that these glorious holidays have to offer (and I’ll expertly wear my stretchy pants to do so), but I also plan to be smart about it. That’s why I am going to do these two things:
First, Ted (my husband) and I are going on the Beachbody 3 day Refresh starting Monday. And we want you to join us, if you dare! It’s kind of a no brainer, because not only is it only $60 ($59.85, to be exact, and there’s actually a limited time offer of $10 off as of the writing of this post), but also if you try it and don’t like it, you get your money back! Seriously. This Refresh quite literally comes with a 30 day money back guarantee.
You don’t lose weight? You don’t see the results that you’re looking for? No problem. Here’s your money back. And you can keep the products you already consumed, thank you very much.
You can get the details and order your kits from Beachbody here and do it along with us. In a nutshell, though, with your kit, you’ll get everything you need for breakfast, lunch and dinner for three days, an amazing recipe book and program guide, and – oh ya – that 30 day money back guarantee. The program is designed to give you back some energy, help you drop that extra few pounds, and fit back into those jeans you could wear on Wednesday but couldn’t by Saturday (at least comfortably, anyway). It’s easy, you don’t have to starve yourself, and it’s only three days. Win, win win!
Looking to go deeper?
Once I’m done with the refresh, the other thing I’m going to do is to continue through Sunday on an Alkaline Diet. This is for the more die hard among you who can handle a little suffering, albeit for an extra four short days. I did it a few weeks ago and lost three pounds, felt better in my body, and gave my digestive system the break that it needed. So it basically takes the 3 Day Refresh and adds a cherry on top. Wouldn’t it be nice to head into the next holiday feeling amazing in your body, fitting into that beautiful outfit you picked out, and feeling good about being able to indulge in the goodies the season has to offer?
It sounds good to me!
But how does one do an alkaline forming diet?
This is how I do it:
1. I start my day off with a giant glass of water followed by a mug of hot lemon water. I drink at least 8 glasses of filtered water throughout the day, and also drink herbal teas like ginger and nettle whenever I feel like it.
2. I eat whatever I want whenever I want, as long as it is on the alkaline food list (see this article for guidance). Think vegetables, fruits, almonds, sprouts, hearty soups and salads, roasted root veggies, etc. If you need guidance and recipe help, message me privately and I’ll help you with a meal plan. You can also check out the recipes on my website, many of which are alkaline forming (like this recipe for stuffed acorn squash and this one for collard green pesto sundried tomato wraps) .
I can pretty much guarantee (and I do mean guarantee) that if you follow the 3 Day Refresh and (though you don’t have to) follow it up with 4 more days of eating an alkaline forming diet, you will feel incredible in your body, and will almost certainly lose some weight or inches. At the very least, you’ll feel much better in your clothes, you’ll have more energy, and you will really and truly feel fantastic. Plus, your body will be thanking you from the inside, because you will have given it the equivalent of a top of the line oil change and tune up for your Ferrari (because in case you’re wondering, your body is like a Ferrari. A fast one. A pretty red one with all the bells and whistles. It needs to be taken care of.).
So, go ahead and indulge this Thanksgiving, and through the weekend too. Because Monday is the start of a brand new you. Let’s take this journey together!
Let me know if you want to join us by emailing me at lauren@delectableyou.com or leaving a comment below.
Until then, from my family to yours,
Happy Thanksgiving,
Sincerely,
Lauren
